Myth: Millets take too long to cook.

Fact: Most millets cook in 12-15 minutes if soaked beforehand (Kodo, Foxtail, Barnyard, Little, Browntop). Whole millets like Pearl and Sorghum take 25-30 minutes, but soaking helps reduce cooking time—and they’re worth it for their nutrition!

Struggling to cook millets right? Here’s how to Struggling to cook millets right? Here’s how to do it the right way!

Soaking millets before cooking helps hydrate the fiber and improve digestion. Soak:
✔ Whole millets – 7-8 hours
✔ Broken millets – 4-5 hours
✔ Millet flour – 2-3 hours

Cooking Method:
1️⃣ Add millet and water or vegetable broth to a saucepan (2:1 ratio)
2️⃣ Bring to a boil, then reduce to a simmer
3️⃣ Cover and cook until the liquid is absorbed, usually 10-12 minutes
4️⃣ Fluff with a fork & let rest for 10 minutes before serving
